So what is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness really means paying attention to our thoughts, feelings, our body sensations and our environment.  We can achieve this by being present in the moment.  

Mindfulness exercises are ways that teach us to pay attention to the present moment. There are many different ways of practicing mindfulness using techniques like meditation, breathing, and yoga.

Being present in the moment provides us with the opportunity to respond to what is happening and not simply react.   It’s a powerful feeling to regain control over our thoughts, feelings and actions, mindfulness practice provides us with the space to make different choices.

Mindfulness isn’t new, it has been around for thousands of years.  It is Scientific Research which has more recently helped to promote the practice based on recent studies which have shown how mindfulness reduces stress, anxiety and depression as well as helping to manage general wellbeing and a wide range of physical conditions.

Mindfulness supports people from all walks of life and does not require you to be religious or spiritual to develop the skills.   Mindfulness can be practiced by children young people and adults.
