About Me
A glimpse into my own personal journey - Why I do what I do
With parents who were both yoga teachers it was inevitable that I would be influenced by their teachings and philosophies on health and wellness. I grew up eating a vegetarian diet and often took honey and walnut sandwiches to school for my packed lunch. Originating from Spain I ate a very healthy Mediterranean diet, it is fair to say that as a child coming to my home for tea was considered a very unusual experience. Although I no longer eat a vegetarian diet, I realise how lucky I was to have grown up in a family that made conscious choices to embrace ways to live a more healthier lifestyle. It was the seed from which my passion for health and wellness would grow.

I can’t remember a time when yoga wasn’t a part of my life, I was to go on and discover just how beneficial this early training was to have on my journey through life. I came to know the importance of maintaining flexibility in my body, my physical body appeared stronger and able to cope far better with the stresses and strains of daily life than other people. I was to go on and suffer from two serious falls, one severely impacted my lower back, the other my shoulder region, on both occasions I experienced severe pain and restriction of movement. With the skills I acquired through my yoga practise I was able to develop a gentle stretching routine, combining this with regular treatments was the turning point my body needed, I was able to restore full range of movement and become completely pain free. I regularly recommend and provide a personalised daily stretching routine for clients who are experiencing musculoskeletal pain and discomfort as a positive restorative contribution that will be beneficial in the short term but also far into the future.

I grew over time to appreciate how fortunate I was to have acquired meditation and mindfulness skills at a young age because they would go on to support my mental and emotional health through many of life’s challenges. The ability to call upon a personal inner strength and guidance that was cultivated through regular practise has been an anchor that continues to carry me through my life to this day. This has resulted in my having a deep passion for teaching this deeply empowering life changing ancient practice, where we are able to discover and access parts of ourselves that we often didn’t know existed.
I have always been drawn towards natural ways of healing, I came to know early in my life that I had the ability to work with energy medicine. I discovered that I was able to determine where in someone’s body they were experiencing pain, during this time I provided energy healing as a natural way of restoring balance. This experience was to become my inspiration to embark on a path of training that has continued for twenty-five years.
With a good programme of self-care in place I was able to live a healthy life only ever suffering from a very occasional cold. However, what I wasn’t prepared for was the journey my mother’s passing would take me on. Following an intense period of caring for my mother at home, I went on to discover how mental, and emotional stress were going to impact my own state of health. Almost immediately I began to experience musculoskeletal pain that refused to respond to conventional treatments, my training up to this point hadn’t prepared me for that. Over time and with experience I came to understand that this was my body’s way of dealing with sorrow and grief. My body had become my teacher; the unrelenting pain had got my attention, I thought I was ok but I clearly wasn’t. My own body was telling me that there was more, it was important for me to grieve and release the stored energy that I was holding on to unconsciously. Having done so I witnessed the musculoskeletal pain dissipate until I eventually became pain free. This personal experience really enhanced my ability to recognise in my clients when an emotional and stressful time may be contributing to their current symptoms and health problems. I was very happy to discover that through A.R.T - Autonomic Response testing I can determine if an underlying emotion or experience is causing or contributing towards a health issue and how to resolve it.
I was to discover that this stressful period had impacted my body in other ways, I had also begun to experience abdominal pain (a burning sensation) swelling and fatigue. I was recommended to a Nutritionist who used Kinesiology as a method of testing, I found out that I was having strong reactions (immune responses) to foods that I was eating. Having always been able to eat what I wanted it was now important for me to remove certain foods which I had always eaten and ‘really enjoyed’ out of my diet. Finding healthy food alternatives that I liked wasn’t easy, with time I came to appreciate how necessary it was for me to find foods that would satisfy my cravings and nourish me, an essential path I had to take for a successful transition. I learnt how to navigate my way through menus when eating out in cafes and restaurants without setbacks to my health, this required a new found confidence to ask for what my body needed without having to make compromises. I now use A.R.T - Autonomic Response Testing to ascertain which foods in someone’s diet are stressing their body and to also establish if any nutritional deficiencies exist. By utilising my own experiences combined with my Nutrition & Life Coaching skills I can support and simplify my client’s own uniquely personal transition towards achieving & maintaining optimal health - Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach
For much of my career I had been seeking answers and finding solutions to health problems, my own personal journey gave me the opportunity to find further explanations and answers to deepen my understanding. With a deep desire to know why and to provide support to those who are struggling with their health and wellness I have trained in various modalities. Experience has taught me that health and wellness requires a combination of approaches if it is to be effective.
I believe each of us is uniquely individual and provide a naturopathic approach to health using natural remedies, treatments and practices to support the body’s self ‘healing processes for physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Placing great emphasis on prevention and the promotion of overall health, I develop personalised treatment plans tailored to each person’s unique and individual needs.
